Updates for this month:
- Added an inventory system and collectables
- Currency and the ability to purchase items and cosmetics from the shops created last month
- A closet system (separate from the inventory system) that allows the player to change between purchased cosmetics
- Added some basic settings options in the menu (x/y axis inversion, volume options)
- Added music and sound effects!
- Additional small visual effects and animations
The two biggest updates this month would most definitely be a working inventory system for collectable items, consumables and a separate cosmetic “inventory” system for clothes! And secondly, sound! I am not as experienced in sound design but I understand how important of a roll it plays in making a world feel more immersive and fun. Right now all the sound effects and music are place holders until I can solidify the sound design I am hoping to achieve and get some musical help from friends with more musical talent then my own.
I also added some basic setting options, such as x and y axis inversion for both the camera and movement controls. I may play with the y-axis inverted, but I know not everyone else does! I also worked on adding some more visual effects/ animations for better player feed back. Better to add to many and cut back on the amount later, then to not have enough.
My focus next month, and something I have been putting off for too long, is saving data. I believe once a solid basic saving system is built, I can finally start putting together the actual linear game.
**Models, animations, and sounds are not final**
