Updates for this month:
- Tutorial zone
- New main hub town
- Camera fixes – jerky movement, see-through visual obstacles
Unfortunately do to other work commitments, I was unable to work as much as I would have liked on Misu this month. However, I did, non-the-less, make some progress.
I added a very basic tutorial zone, which loads first on a fresh install. That way I can hopefully playtest without having to tell the playtester anything and see what is intuitive, needs explaining, etc. The starting zone takes place in the Southern Desert and explains how to move, look around, access the Book options/inventory/quest thing, as well as the main goal of finding sun spots to lay in. Definitely not how the final tutorial will look, but it has the basics out of the way for now.
As most of the core mechanics are pretty much made, it’s time to start working on the linear story line, which I briefly started with the time I had (tutorial level -> main town -> next step: NPCatto to talk to to lead to next quest/area). Of course a bunch of small bugs popped up along the way as well, so while I am dealing with those, as well as cleaning up some previous implementations that I have since learned how to do better, I have also started construction on a new Main Town/ Hub. The Hub connects to the Northern Mountains, Eastern Forest, Southern Desert, Eastern Prairie and is where Misu calls home during her adventure.
Lastly, I fixed some jerky movement the camera was experience due to trying to avoid obstacles, always keep Misu in sight. Now, when Misu is behind large visually blocking obstacles, such as trees, the blocking object will become see through.
**Models, animations, and sounds are not final**
